Robin Wood is a striking beacon on the Center Island of IJburg that forms a playful, open connection between a lively urban street and the cozy adjacent residential area with a view over the IJmeer. The building is like a tree; completely made of wood, self-sufficient and circular.

The building is recognizable from afar by the water and up close you experience a layered, transparent and refined whole. The houses are situated around a collective forest – a Tiny Forest. Robin Wood entices residents to explore and discover the building. The prefabricated, modular construction supports a composition of large and small homes that are flexible, stacked, detachable and demountable.

Robin Wood is an addition to Centrumeiland IJburg, which gives the neighborhood its signature and identity. The building is characterized by a clear design language, sturdy plinths, height accents on the corners and a uniform, consistent and extremely sustainable use of materials.
